Bruce examines a tree used as a scratching post by bears.

After the tipis had been built, there were a couple hours before the ceremony began.
Bruce said that seldom-seen ancient rock art was nearby, so off we went into the woods.

No even ground, let alone paths or trails. We stayed near the creek, navigating boulders.

After hiking for a couple miles, we found out a recent flood had turned over the rock with the artwork. Bruce was more disappointed that I didn't get to see it than that an ancient work of art was now never to be seen again.
